Gambrinus

One of the czech republic’s most drunk, but not necessarily most loved brands, Gambrinus, we developed a communication branding system for the second time – creating a bold and masculine brand graphic identity.

This was a complex branding that also involved the updated of their iconic ‘Patron’, working with costume designers to create a more masculine version of the character, who had previously been a little more on the ‘comic’ side, with red velvet, embroidered costume. The new Patron, was inspired more by ‘Game of thrones’ with thick leather clothing, more synonymous with a ‘king-like’ character. and much more in line with the Masculine target group.

The was mainly a design exercise and enabled us to create a brand guideline that cover graphic design systems, photographic style, Patron style. We created a test shooting of the patron, to define facial moods.

This was also the first time the client had used CGI renders for their bottles and even the glass/beer product shots. Having convinced them that the traditional use of product photography could be brought up to date with computer visualisation, the end results gave use photorealistic images for their communication, with the benefits of CGI, such a label, or angle swapping.
